BIG NEWS GMA Canada has just announced the nominees for the 2011 GMA Covenant Awards.
Ali has received 10 nominations supporting her latest album, Carry Me Home. The show will take place on October 28th in Calgary as part of GMA week.
Ali has now been nominated for a total of 34 Covenant Awards - winning 10 in the last 7 years.

RECENT PERFORMANCES
Ali was thrilled to be a part of this Lullaby Project, featuring some of her fellow Stratford songstresses and recorded in the spring of 2011. The CD contains original and familiar lullabies including two new originals from Ali. Proceeds of sales of the CD will support Children's Mental Health Ontario. Please help support this great cause by coming to the release concert in Stratford if you can and purchase copies for all the young families in your life... it's a win-win for everyone!

To celebrate my new CD, “Carry Me Home”, I am hosting a special summer dinner and concert evening in my very own, humble Stratford abode. Why, you might ask? Because it’s HOME and home is one of the main themes of my new CD. Guests will enjoy an informal back porch dinner including my hubby-John’s stellar barbeque offerings and some of my favourite side dishes and sweet treats. Bring your own bottle of wine or purchase wine or beer for $5 / glass (proceeds of drink sales will go to my favourite charity, Speroway). Following dinner, enjoy a full concert of new and old songs as I welcome two of my dearest friends (and highly acclaimed musicians) - guitarist, Rick Francis and pianist, Charlene Nafziger to help fill my home with sweet sounding melodies.

NEW AWARD ADDED TO COLLECTION: Ali won the Seasonal Album of the Year award at the 31st annual Gospel Music Association Covenant Awards in Calgary on October 23rd. The award was for her most recent Christmas CD, Looking For Christmas.
It is the 10th Covenant award for the Stratford singer-songwriter, who has been nominated 22 times.
Fifty-six awards were given out Oct. 23rd, recognizing recordings from rock, country/bluegrass, pop, folk/roots, choir music and southern gospel, amongst others.
I'm proud to be a part of this thriving industry," Ms. Matthews said in press release. "There is a sense of community amongst Canadian artists and it is very encouraging to receive this kind of recognition."
Ali spent last week in Calgary for GMA week, which featured events throughout the city that promoted the Christian music industry.
Matthew's also took part in the festivities with longtime musical partner, producer and guitarist Rick Francis. They performed at a showcase to peers and industry representatives.
Ms. Matthews' annual Stratford Christmas concert will be held Nov. 29 at the Church Restaurant.
